My favourite is MiniAITA, where people write in from a child’s perspective (usually something their kids did or said). Usually babies and toddlers. Think AITA for throwing food because it was on the wrong plate. 🤣

I didn’t know this was a thing but can’t wait to become obsessed!

This is so good. “It tends to be a lot like an old school advice column but with significantly less self-awareness.”

Obviously it’s part of the entertainment but wow, shocking the questions I’ve read there!

E-Dub's avatar

I’ve long been a fan of AITA and have suggested that the most egregious questions be moved to a special Of Course You’re the Asshole archive for purposes of ridicule.

Karen Doak's avatar

That is a genius idea.

Very funny. They are mostly kids who just won a gold medal, possibly the most momentous occasion of their lives. They’re not responsible to apologize for someone else even if they laughed in a moment of joy.

Karen, an appropriate name. Do you ever get tired of being a scold?

They are old enough to go to war, vote, father a child, and behave like an ass when someone makes fun of an achievement because it was done by "girls." The people who should be getting over themselves and their unsupportable self-righteous anger clearly are too arrogant to believe it applies to them, Dick.

Oh, I'm sorry, it's David, isn't it? Just a joke! Laugh it off!

As the subhead clearly states: Defensible and accountable are not the same thing.

Nah, I don’t think so. Scolds like you are.

The Politiwitch's avatar

But isn't is asshole behavior to come on here calling people scolds, and dare i say....Karens?

Let's play a game: would you be here if the writer was,oh I don't know, Kurt?

David Taylor's avatar

Guess what. You’re the asshole! The men’s hockey team has nothing to apologize for. Nothing.

<Slides Troll Kibble back onto the shelf/> Sorry, folks! I slipped up!

Dick, continue as you are. The clouds are breathlessly waiting to hear what you have to say next!

All the Taylors in this comment section are assholes. What are the odds?

Honestly, every skater on that team owes Hellebuyk an apology. They could have made his job a lot easier.

Here's a thought: when someone insults you, you insult them right back. On the spot, rather than 3 weeks later in front of HR. See how easy?

So I summarize the entire piece as I read it…..guys are always the “a” in the “aita” situations. Thanks “ Karen” very enlightening

Reading comprehension not your strong suit eh, pal?

Applies to Trump voters, too. It can be true that you voted for him because of taxes and policies, you're still an asshole because you willingly voted for a felon sex offender women hater.

If you’ve never been laughed at by your peers (even unfairly) then you’ve never spent time with true peers, only pretenders or panderers.

An argument can be made that the two hockey teams weren’t peers, at all (for two reasons: while they both won gold in tight games, the women actually outperformed their opponent in every facet of the game while men only truly excelled at goaltending and were outperformed everywhere but in the crease; conversely, no one on the women’s team - individually or collectively - can play hockey on the same level as anyone on that men’s team). They were peers in being the chosen representatives for the winning nation in their respective events, but they were not peers in either skill or competitiveness.

In either case, they have every right to laugh and enjoy any comparison amongst themselves. Does it make the men assholes for laughing at a (not particularly pithy) joke about the women? Maybe; define “asshole.”

Do the men consider the women their peers? I don’t know and I imagine not every player sees it the same way. Still, true peers respect each other enough to laugh at each other without apology - or to be laughed at without crying about their “peers” being assholes.

Agree about the wedding. The sister can still drag the kid along and find a babysitter also.

Mark Taylor's avatar

Just so we’re clear, the women’s hockey team could easily be beaten by most high school boys’ hockey teams.

Veritable does not mean utterable.

E-Dub's avatar

Yes, you’re the asshole. You are replicating the AITA subreddit, right?

Nice *ad hominem*.
