Welcome to Stepping In It
This newsletter exists for people navigating complex situations without a manual — blended families, workplace dynamics, and all the messy stuff in between. I write about real experiences with humor and candor, and I welcome comments that continue that spirit.
What I’m Looking For in Comments
Sharing your own experiences and perspectives
Disagreement that’s respectful and constructive
Questions, insights, and “me too” moments
Humor that doesn’t punch down
Support for other readers navigating similar situations
What I Won’t Tolerate
Comments that cross the line include:
Personal attacks on me, other commenters, or people mentioned in posts
Insults, name-calling, or harassment
Deliberately hurtful or mean-spirited content
Spam, promotional content, or solicitations
Sharing others’ private information
Wildly off-topic content that derails the conversation
How Moderation Works
I monitor top-level comments (direct replies to the post) most actively in the first few days after publishing. After that, I check in less consistently. I don’t monitor nested replies or comment threads between readers.
If you see something problematic in the comments, you can flag it or email me directly, but I can’t guarantee I’ll catch everything or respond immediately.
My Response Policy
I love engaging with readers, but I can’t respond to every comment. I’m most likely to respond when:
You’ve asked a direct question
Your comment adds a new perspective worth exploring
I need to clarify something from the post
Deletion, Blocking & Closing Comments
I reserve the right to:
Delete comments that violate these guidelines
Block repeat offenders
Close comments entirely if a thread gets out of control
Questions?
If you have concerns about a specific comment or moderation decision, you can reach me at steppinginitsite@gmail.com. I’ll respond when I can, but I’m not obligated to justify every moderation choice.
